Asian Style is karaoke in a private room. There are no strangers present. It is only you, and your invited friends and family.

What is American Style Karaoke?

American Style is singing before a crowd of strangers in an open bar. It is also commonly called ‘open Mic’.
Q.
On your menu under ‘House Rules’ it says that there is a $3 charge per song after the first 3 songs. Does this apply to Asian Style Karaoke?
A.
No, this only applies to American Style, Open Mic karaoke in the bar area.

Is there an age restriction to enter Family Karaoke?
A.
Most days there is no age restriction. However, Fridays, Saturdays and holiday weekends we are 21 and over after midnight.

Why is there a 2 hour time limit on Fridays, Saturdays, and holidays?
A.
We need to allow all of our customers a chance to get a room. As always, if the room has not been reserved after your 2 hours are up, you may stay longer.

I need a reservation for today. What do I do?
A.
Send a reservation request using our Website. Keep in mind that you likely won’t get an answer until after 5PM. If it is for a weekend or holiday, don’t expect to get what you want. You, most likely, will be given a list of alternatives to choose from, i.e. time or room size changes.

We have some people in our group who are under 21 and need a room for 11PM and plan to stay 2 hours. What do we do?
A.
If it is a weeknight, no problem. Those under 21 will need to leave after midnight, if it is a Friday, Saturday or holiday weekend night.

I made a reservation @ 9AM this morning. It is now 4PM and still no answer to my email! What is Family’s management doing!?
A.
Sleeping. Our workday normally starts at about 3PM and ends at 6AM.Emails will be answered outside of those hours. Family phones are manned from 5PM until 4AM.

Why are there no prices on the menu for Alcoholic Beverages?
A.
Since the price of alcohol fluctuates, it eliminates the need to reprint the menus. Alcohol is priced in line with the competition. You will not get gouged.
Q.
We are coming to Family to celebrate a birthday. Can we bring a cake?
A.
Yes, you can bring a cake. Don’t forget to ask for our complimentary balloons and pictures.

Is Family Karaoke a BYOB?
A.
Absolutely not! Under Texas State Law, it is a illegal to bring alcohol into any licensed establishment.

Why does Family Karaoke stop serving alcohol at 2AM?
A.
It is the law. This is done in order to comply with TABC and State regulations. All ordered, unconsumed, alcohol must be removed from the rooms before 2:15AM. Individuals caught consuming after hours will be issued a ticket by the authorities.

Why the crazy rule about minors, alcohol, and rooms?
A.
Since the rooms are ‘private’, our staff is not present to monitor alcohol consumption. Because of this we do not allow alcohol in a room if there are minors in that room. We must do this to abide by the Texas laws against underage drinking.

We have a family event planned in a room. Some of our group will be under 21. Will you still not allow alcohol in the room?
A.
There is an exception to the Texas law. If the adults are the parents or legal guardians of the minors, alcohol is no longer an issue.

Why is Family Karaoke suddenly non-smoking?
A.
The City of Dallas passed a law making it illegal. The City will issue a $200 ticket to everyone caught smoking in a public building or business.

Why is the sound better at Family Karaoke than the competition.
A.
Family believes in offering our customers the best equipment. For example, our microphones cost $500 each. Treat the equipment with care so that the sound quality remains high!
Q. Why can't I stay longer, I will pay for the room?
A. We appreciate the offer and would love to accommodate you. Unfortunately, if you try and request a longer time the day of your reservation we will probably have a room booked already after your time slot. If we are able to extend your time we will. However, since we have a limited amount of rooms, there is little we can do if there is a party waiting on your room.
